CSE @ a Glance
From home video game consoles to hospital monitoring equipment, computer systems are a part of every aspect of contemporary culture. Computer scientists and engineers design, build and improve these systems, finding new applications for sophisticated technology, determine just how much information you can store on any hard drive, figure out what instruction a computer needs in order to turn on and move information around, design cables which link computers together to form networks, develop peripheral computing devices such as printers, modems, scanners and digital cameras. As a Computer Science and Engineering student at VCTM, you’ll receive a solid background in engineering fundamentals that will allow you to adapt to newly introduced systems and methods; you’ll also have the chance to work with highly reputed researchers on projects that represent the cutting edge of computer science today.
VCTM – COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The Department moulds young outstanding engineers who are academically strong in both theory and practicals. It organizes supplementary programs, which include Paper Presentations, Technical seminars & Mock Interviews to prepare the student for a career in the computing field or for graduate study. Special orientation is provided to the staff periodically for updating their acumen and to imbibe the latest technological changes. The staff and students are members of the Computer Society of India.
Computing Facilities
The computing facility of the Department consists of a state-of-the-art network of computers with more than 250 nodes spread over 7 separate labs running with Linux & Windows servers. The various labs are Project Lab, Graphics Lab, Hardware Lab, Programming Lab, the System Software Lab and PG Lab.Computer Science Association
The Computer Science Association consists of all members of the faculty in the department as well as all students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of Computer Science and Engineering. The Association encourages students to prove their worth through the annual technical and cultural festival, ‘ASTHRA’. Designed to instill confidence and to inspire creativity, ASTHRA serves as a testimonial of unity among the whole Computer Science Department. The first ASTHRA, hosted in 2006, has set the benchmark in terms of quality and technology integration, and we are keen on raising the bar, year after year.
Career Enhancement Cell (CEC)
CEC consists of a team of highly motivated and experienced members of the faculty who have a proven track record in the IT industry and academia. Two student representatives are selected from each class of CSE. It is this team, which co-ordiantes all the placement and entreupreunership development activities of the department. Problem Solving Skills Development, Communication and behavioral skills development, Tech and Domain skills development are the major areas of concentration.Department Info
